Potty Training Twins
If you have twins or children of a similar age you may feel that potty training them together may seem like a time-saver, but it doesn’t always work out that way, as your children may approach readiness at different times.
A key point to remember is that not all children are ready at the same time [...]
What Works For Potty Training Your Child?
I was talking to my mom, curious as to how my aunt got both of my little cousins to potty train so quickly. She said it was due to my aunt giving my cousins an incentive. She told them they would each get a huge toys r us toy if they could both stat using the regular toilet correctly instead of the little plastic practice noe. Within 2 weeks it worked! So I was just curious, what have you done to train your child/a child for potty training?

sit them on the potty when they are quite young, obviously without a nappy on! give them a book to read or put the TV on, sit with them and when the do anything you really need to go totally ott with the praise, kids love to get praised, this worked with both of mine in around 4 weeks and they were both totally toilet trained and 2 years.
ReplyMy wife and I potty trained our son by using his favorite Elmo doll. We would “feed” him the same time our son ate. Afterward we would take him to the toilet and let him go. We would tell Elmo what a good job he did and that he could watch any show on TV that he wanted. Soon our son wanted the same reward. We always use positive reinforcement. We would also let our son call one of his grandparents or even an imaginary character afterward to tell them what he did. That worked surprisingly well.
ReplyI had my son watch me and my daughter watch her mother acouple of times they catch on really quick that way no frustrations or headaches, they learn by watching and doing. hope you don’t get embarassed easily because it’s just natural. some people can’t do it that way, but i had no problem potty training them hope this helps lol trapperjohn
ReplyPotty use comes naturally, so if you train them and get them to use the potty two weeks earlier, OK, but I think it is a waste of time really. In my time I don’t recall my mom telling me she used anything special to potty train me.
Replywell my mom gives the kids one m&m for peeing on the potty and 2 m&ms for pooping on the potty and it works
ReplyYep i don’t care what people say~ a little bribery goes a long way with kids!
ReplyAlso to get them to want to be there….set up a cd player with a cd of their fav songs~ they will sit and sing until the job is done!!
Try to remember that it will happen~ there is not too many un potty trained adults out there!!

patience. when the kid is ready they will do it. just keep encouraging them. my 3 year old didn’t want to be like his baby brother and have diapers on. my sister used m&m’s as the bribe. it will happen with encouragement, bribary, and patience.
ReplyMy daughter was into balloons at the time. I told her if she made a No. 1, she’d get one balloon, for a No.2, two balloons. If she missed, a balloon would get popped. Three days later, she was fully trained, and I had a houseful of balloons!
ReplyDepends on if you have boys or girls. For my boys I would buy some generic cereal, sprinkle 5-7 pieces in the toilet and then tell them to sink it. This helps boys with aim as well as keeps their minds off of the fact that they are being potty trained.
ReplyMy girl just got it when I started teaching her. She liked being a big girl since there was a baby around. But, she didn’t like the way #2 felt at first, so we had to work on that a little longer, lol. Good Luck!
My daughter was using the potty on and off, but I couldn’t get her out of training pants until she saw that one of her little friends use the potty.
ReplyThe friend was a year older and my daughter thought she was a “big girl” so when she realized that the big girl used the potty, she wanted to as well.
