What Is Your Best Potty Training Tips For My 2 Year Old Daughter?

my daughter is almost 2 and is showing alot of signs that she is ready to be out of diapers.
My oldest is almost 5 now and basicly potty trained herself(I tried and tried and then when I gave up she just decided she wanted to use the potty). so, I caould really use some tips. Whats the best thing/s that worked for you?

  1. Though I have yet to try it (my daughter is only 1) two of my closest friends did the Potty Training Boot Camp theory from their doctors. As soon as your child can take of her own pants then technically you can start potty training. Anyway, basically what the boot camp entails is 3 full days of both parents at home with the child (they say both so that the child will understand that both parents know what’s going on). No diapers…no pull ups..nothing, just underpants. Explain about the funny feeling below their tummy that tells them when its time to potty and spend the three days trying to be accident free. Both of my friends had success and only the first two days did their kids have accidents by day 3 they had learned they mess themselves and don’t want that. Hope this helped somewhat and best wishes!

  2. get a little potty (one of those plastic ones that sit on the ground) and whenever you go to the bathroom bring her in with you. give rewards for going ie: 1 little piece of chocolate (m&m), stickers, my girl loves chap stick so we left a chap stick thing in the bathroom and got to put it on after washing her hands.

  3. Does she seemed interested when your older child goes potty? That may intice her to do it on her own if she is made to feel older for doing it. My daughter hated the potty, so I used pull-ups on her. That was a big mistake…she relied on the pull-ups and refused to potty. At age 3 she finally caved in and used the commode. All children are different and will go when they are mentally ready. Hang in there, Mom!

  4. My sister put her 2 year old in “big girl” underwear, she still had accidents but she was potty trained in a month. She still had pull ups on at night though, just in case. Also she had her daughter try to potty every other hour or so untill she got the hang of it. hope this helps and good luck to you.

  5. i’d say take her to the store and have her pick out her favorite “big girl underwear”.
let her wear them for a couple hrs at a time around the house.
    Good luck!

  6. I bought the pot for my daughter in advance, and tried to sit her on it months before she was actually ready. I clapped every time she used the pot to encourage her, and let her know that’s what she should be doing. I found the time that I know that she will need to use the potty, and that ’s when I sat her on the pot. I know she uses the bathroom daily from 10:00 am-10:30, and I made sure she was sitting on her pot at that time of the day. I also let my baby flush the toilet when I dumped the pot (she really likes to flush the toilet, and that keeps her interest) While she was on the pot, I put on Disney Channel, or a show that I know would hold her interest. She was so excited when I bought her panties, and I told her she had to use the pot in order to wear her panties.
One day she climbed on the toilet on her own, and I just stood beside her as she used the bathroom. Sounds like she’s graduating to the toilet. I was so pleased and proud of her.
