Potty Training Regression Because Of Baby- When Will It End?
How long can this go on for? My 4.5 yr old son wets his pants like 2-3 times a day. At this point I just change him and get on with things. When I tell him to put his clothes in the hamper and get clean underwear, he tends to get a nighttime diaper because he doesn’t feel like changing again! He also does baby talk.
Oh, the baby is 9.5 months old now.

Hi there, look don’t despair your son will get there in his own good time. You just can’t push these things. Boys especially can be a bit slower to potty train and yes a fully trained tot can regress when a new baby comes on the scene, it should sort itself out eventually. Was your son ever fully potty trained? if so then nothing is medically wrong otherwise there could be a little problem that could be quite easily sorted by a visit to the doctor because at this stage your little man must be feeling very low about it all the poor little fella I totally understand how frustrating it can be especially with a baby to look after as well. Don’t make the mistake of comparing your son to other children his age just give him loads of positive encouragement when things go right for him, and totally ignore any accidents just don’t react verbally with any negative comments what so ever as this can just destroy a small child’s confidence in himself. Things will settle down eventually just relax you’ll get there with your little one.
ReplyI really sympathise with you because when things go on like this it can be soul destroying but I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel . Promise ….I’ve been there! mum to four kids now all fully potty trained and you’ll get there too. Best of luck.
