Potty Training Twins
If you have twins or children of a similar age you may feel that potty training them together may seem like a time-saver, but it doesn’t always work out that way, as your children may approach readiness at different times.
A key point to remember is that not all children are ready at the same time [...]
How Do I Potty Train 2 Kids At One Time?
I have 16 month old twins (1 boy 1 girl) and I want to start potty-training them in about 2 months, I know some of you will say that they are too young but they are both very smart and I really believe they can do it. I know girls are easier to potty train so should I try to train her first? Should I get 2 separate potties for them? Should I use pull-ups? I also know that the daycare isn’t going to help me (they are busy) so what should I do about that? It might confuse them that they have to go at home, but not at daycare. I’m going to buy some potty books and think of some kind of reward system, but I just really want to make sure that once I start, I don’t stop because of problems that may arise. Only mommies (especially of twins!) or people who are around little kids a lot… I would really appreciate any advice.

When I potty trained my daughter, I stayed home for four days, kept her at home with no bottoms onat all, and took the portable potty into every room we were in. When she went, she would get to pick from a grab bag of prizes. For two, I would imagine that two potties would be the way to go. Also, I would encourage the man in your life to help with the boy. Also, my son goes to a daycare that potty trains children. They start them at 24 months. Those types of schools are out there and available to you. Good luck!
ReplyFrom experience I would say a girl is easy, I am potty training my 18 month old right now. It’s only been 3 weeks, but she’s doing great. First of all, you need to make sure they are ready, most kids are ready when they start taking off thier diapers or when they can communicate to you either verbally or physically that they need to go. It would be helpful if the daycare center that they went to did potty training too, because it will confuse them it and it will take longer to teach them. I didn’t use books, but I got her one of those Elmo dolls that goes to the potty. And the reward system works too, when my daughter goes she gets a little treat and we have a potty dance. Remember be patient, i will be hard be it will come. Good Luck.
ReplyCon grads. I’m also a mother of twins now 15. I have a new baby who is 7 months and I will try to do the same things with her as I did with the twins.
Reply1. I found a treat they really liked which was cookies and M & M’s. I took them away from them until they would use the potty.
2. I made them sit ont he potty after they ate just so they could get use to it.
3. I had a good family support that helped follow # 1.
Even now with the baby I take her with me and let her know I’m going to the potty and she just sits there and tries to inmate me. Hope this helps.
that would be awesome.. they can compete. There is wonderful book called ‘how to potty train you child in a day or less’. I used that tecnique with my daughter and wow, she thought it was so fun. And with 2 kids… they could totally compete. My kid was so proud of herself (but it only lasted for a few weeks and then she decided to make it a battle of the wills after i knew she was trained). But still.. she loved it. You can buy it at amazon.com It is small and cheap Oh, I would get 2 potties but not beconcenered with who used which one
ReplyI haven’t started potty training yet, but I would definetly get two potties. Also…since they are different genders, give them their own privacy. Expect accidents as 18 months does seem young. Do they show signs that they are ready for training such as not too wet in the morning, taking their own diaper off, pulling at the tabs, taking an interest in the toilet, etc?? If so, they I say good luck!
