Potty Chair Or A Potty Seat On The Big Potty? Which One Worked The Best For Potty Training Your Toddler?

Im just curious to know. Right now we have a potty chair and he doesn’t care for it to much. Does the potty seat the goes onto the big potty work any better?

  1. None of my kids like the seat for the big chair. Try reading to him while he is sitting on it. Best thing we have found is to just take the kid in the bathroom with you when you have to go. Bring one of his favorite books with you and read to him while you are going and he is sitting on his potty chair.

  2. My son loves the potty seat that goes on our toilet–we got a cushioned one, and a little stool so he can reach the potty on his own. We also had to teach him to “push it down” so he didn’t pee over the seat :p It heard getting the seats with the little pee cups can hurt them if they sit up or down on it wrong.
It’s a lit easier to clean as well–you just flush! Plus my son is so proud that he pees where mommy and daddy go.
    I would try it!

  3. We went through everything with my son. I didn’t think he would ever get potty trained. What we did was taught him to stand up. After many hours of the potty chair and the seat cushion, I was so surprised when he caught on to this so quickly. Try using a step stool so he can stand up there and help him point. Then eventually it will come natural for him. This took us about 2 days before he was going without us even knowing it. But all kids are different.

  4. Just last night I tried putting the seat on the big toilet (vs. keeping it on the little potty chair) and my daughter went both 1 and 2 on it for the first time. She loves sitting on the potty chair but only playing around. When it’s go-time she seems to take better to the toilet…probably because she sees me using it all of the time. I’m cool with that! It was great. We had a little potty party.

  5. Every child is different with this. I have 3 boys - my two oldest didn’t want either, they wanted to sit on the “big potty” without the little seat on it. My youngest is 2, not completely potty trained yet but seems to be more fond of having his own potty chair.

  6. I think the potty chair is best. That way it cound be in the room wherever we were. Our son used it for a little bit of time only before he just plain used the big potty.

  7. I have used both with mine. My first two used the big potty but my last used the little potty. I didn’t see much difference really. they done fine with what they used. I did think it would be hard to get her to use the big potty after using the little one but one day she informed me that she uses the big potty now. But we keep the little potty by the big potty in case somebody is on the big potty and she really needs to go.

  8. We’ve done both.
Potty chair is so convenient because you can put it anywhere. Con is that you have to deal with the stuff and flush it down the toilet. Then had to rinse the bowl. My husband got tired of that quick. Potty seat on big potty is great. Just have some fun stuff for your child to do in the bathroom. Also, this gets them used to having to use a big person potty.
