Potty Training Twins
If you have twins or children of a similar age you may feel that potty training them together may seem like a time-saver, but it doesn’t always work out that way, as your children may approach readiness at different times.
A key point to remember is that not all children are ready at the same time [...]
What Method Of Potty Training Should I Use?
My 2.5 year old daughter has not shown any interest in potty training. She currently wears pullups and we’ve tried big girl undies which she likes to wear, but will stay in when she’s wet. How do I get her interested in using the potty (besides the Elmo dvd, musical potty chair, and everyone poops book), and what’s the best method in getting her trained? I NEED her to be trained by the fall because she’ll be starting preschool.

We were lucky with our daughter. We didn’t force her to do what she wasn’t ready for, but we read her several books and discussed it with her for a couple of weeks prior to trying. She got tired of her pullups- then we explained that if she wanted to be a big girl, she needed to use the toilet. It took us about 1 week with maybe 2-3 accidents the whole time. It was SOOO easy!
ReplyMaybe her disinterest is because you are making a big deal out of it? If children arent ready they can feel pressured and become stubborn or stressed. If she picks up on your anxiety she will associate potty training with negativity rather than a step forward. I would give it a break for a while then start trying again later. Go with her cues and let her take it all in her own time. 2.5 isnt old to still be in nappies, i bet if you forget all about it for a few weeks she will show more interest. Autumn is still ages away and when a child decides to potty train for themselves they usually pick it up really quickly. good luck x
