Buying Portable Potties - 6 Vital Points

Well I recently have been thinking of buying another Portable Potty as the one I used with my earlier kids was a bit old and broken.

I recall when I was first buying Portable Potties for the boys I found a checklist in a MotherCare magazine which I found helpful when choosing the Potty, and thought it would be useful for you to keep in mind as well when you are on your portable potties buying trip.

The Portable Potty must be:

portable-pottySturdy and Stable- The chair will be stood upon, jumped upon, sat upon and therefore the portable potty must be sturdy and stable and be able to survive this onslought.

Collection Mechanism -  The collection mechanism on the portable portable-potty-disposable-2potty must be large and easy to remove so to avoid spillage. I would also suggest looking for one that has a disposable element to the portable potty so cleaning on the move is not to hard.

portable-potty-disposableArm Rests- I first thought these would be useful, but what happens is (or for me it did) was the young ones grabbed on to these when sitting or getting off which caused the chairs to tip over.

Removable Seats- as the eventual aim of potty training is to make your kids eventually move to the toilet, removal seats are a useful tool also help comfort the child.

Splash Guards- Now the one I orignally got for the boys had splash guards on it, however I never got round to ‘clipping’ them in place and never did see a need for it. So Avoid.

Rewards- Though not a requirement when buying the portable potty itself, I find rewarding the kids for a job well done works wonders!
